I've finally gotten brave and shot manual & RAW. These are fireworks I shot. I really have no clue what I was doing and just set my lens on widest 18mm @F11 and held the shutter open for the approximate length of the firework as it shot up and burst open until it faded. I'm sure the are not correctly done but I would appreciate any and all critiques. I'm an ex-Marine and retired cop so I can take it. ;-)

Not bad for a
former marine ;)
This explains the basics of shooting fireworks pretty good:

Hey now, I'm retired Navy :)
If these are from raw, maybe try reducing the exposure in your raw editor - unless you like the cars, in which case...well done :)
Do you know about the sidecar files? Something I learned here on UHH when learning raw. It's data that tells the raw editor what your last edits were, so when you re-open your raw file in your editor, it will have those adjustments. You can, of course, change the settings or start all over.

You're quite welcome - and thank you too..
Fair winds and following seas...
Not one shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious.

I don't mind going nowhere, as long as it's an interesting path.

Ahh Marines...Admirals bell hops.
Like the pictures.
Nice shots for the first time. I especially like #3.
Nice shots. I like them all
Beautiful shots. By the way, my father was a marine and once told me 'there is no such thing and an ex marine' :-)
Thank you, and yes, your Dad is correct; there is no such thing as an ex-Marine.
