I have a six yr old Nikon D 80 with a failed rear LED screen, otherwise the camera is perfect. Since it is not in working order, it is not tradeable at my local camera store. Is it worthwhile fixable? I just purchased a new D 5300 so I would sell this highly discounted. Thanks.

Welcome to the Hog, Jim.

Not familiar with your camera: does it have a viewfinder on top the camera (the kind you bring to your eye)?
And can you still use that?

If the camera is indeed "otherwise perfect" I'd check into cost of having it repaired. You're the only one who can decide whether repair is worthwhile.

A fellow Hog-member does camera repairs, evidently at a reasonable price, although I have had no contact with Rick:

I can buy a "good" D80 from Ebay for £120 (less than $150) and a non-functioning D80 for about £40 ($35)

A replacement screen will cost more than a used camera.

Definitely not worth fixing, probably not worth selling, donating/gifting might be the best option.

What is the shutter count? If is low than it is worth repairing if you like the camera and plan on using it. I spent more on a D70 but it did have sentimental value.
