Canon 20D Flash

My Canon 20D built in flash unit suddenly stopped working. I made two successful flash shots and then "boom" it no longer worked. Same in manual or auto. The flash button on the side of the camera won't release the flash. The Camera is 5+ years old and has never had problems..Any ideas? I checked all the setting..put in fresh battery etc.

I don't mean to appear cynical, but consider that a godsend. Built-in flashes are notoriously crappy. If you use flash a lot, get a dedicated unit that attaches to your hotshoe, and has more flexibility. Your subjects will thank you, your pictures will turn out better (probably) and, best of all, you'll look more professional. :)

What mode are you using? Flash won't open in some of them.

I too have a 20D ,twice it has done the same thing, all I did was while pressing the flash release I GENTLY lifted on the flash, an sucess . Mine seems to do this when it has not been used for a while. Don't know if this will help, best of luck to you ...

Up on top of the Forum, hit the SEARCH button and search ERRANT CANON FLASH. Should bring up the thread which has a detailed descrption of what CANON recommends to resolve a sticking flash unit. It is a question about a 7D but should help you as well. Hope this helps!

The best help you can get is call Canon, they back what they sell. And you talk to real people.
