I am posting what appears to be some sort of egg sac I found on the end of a leaf I have spotted small caterpillars on before... The other shot are of my Hibiscus which is blooming...

The spikey sphere thing is very interesting. I like the Hibiscus shots too. I want to stack some of these at some point.

Image #1 resembles pollen in shape, but obviously much too large. I have never seen an egg clutch like that, especially with regularly-spaced hairs. Possibly a seed pod.

I have gone back out & it is still there... We are having a windy day & I would think that if it was a seed pod, it would have blown off... What do you think?

Just had someone from the Bug Guide Facebook site ID the 1st image as an egg to a Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis) butterfly.... I have been seeing them in the area over the last week or so but was unable to get any images of them... Maybe time to cull the egg with some leaves...

Went back out & found 6 eggs on different leaves... I'll take half of them & leave the others alone...
