trying to learn about stacking and downloaded the 30 day trial of zerene stacker. Everything here was done very primitively. I used a Styrofoam light tent.
I took 16 raw images focused at different spots. I turned 16 images into .tif files via photoshop file>scripts>image processor. (Zerene will only process TIFF files or JPG files)
Then let zerene do it's thing, here is a stack of moss, broken walnut shells, and tiny flowers.. I see some ghosting in some places, I'll have to explore zerene further to understand how to tell it to ignore some areas.

ain't that stacker a slick trick?
I am liking it very much -- I think those guys will earn 90 dollars from me, seems like it will be worth every dime. Will have to spend the rest of the afternoon reading the online manual..

Zerene Stacker will work with Raw files up to a certain size!
When I was still using it, it had no problems to stack several 34MB raw files, but much higher than that and it refused. Still have it on my computer, but have not used it in many years. Photoshop does not have those restrictions and it is a lot faster.
hey, oldtigger, you made it pop more, how did you do that?
Hi speters, Since I have PS, I might have to experiment with it and see if how things stack up. Could save some money, but so far I'm liking Zerene very much. I appreciate the reality check!!
Here I did a 22 stack rotting mushroom or whatever it is... This time for lighting diffusion, I bent a piece of photo paper over the scene. (heh, wonder if I used a print, how it might "color" the the scene, might have to try that). And another change was I lowered the DOF and let much more light in through the aperture.
