Andy Borowitz may not know the reason why Perry has brought the Nation Guard to the border, maybe like Obama he does not watch the news but surely he should know what is going on on our Southern Border by reading the paper. Maybe he should watch Fox Cable News. I notice that he compared Perry to Bush. That is good, unlike the do nothing President that we now have. At least Perry is doing something.

What do you know, even Governors have pens and Phones.

Amazing what a governor with guts can do, while the left's pant-less, pandering fundraiser-in-chief shines the welcome mat for illegals. Surprised you pathetic Kool-Aid drinkers aren't out there manning shuttle busses for 'em.

I am afraid that the National Guard will not "keep 'em down on the farm," but may slow things down a bit, but only where the guard is placed. Lots of mileage between the U.S. and Mexico. I just cannot imagine the National Guard holding guns on youngsters through the fence and telling them to go back to Central America, without letting them through and helping them first, which is being done for many right now.

The Guard is only an additional help to State Police and Border Patrol. They will be a greater help than what the president has offered... no, wait. The president hasn't offered any help.

It doesn't matter who wins office the cartoonists and comedy writers always win.

A Perry/ Palin win would be a jackpot bonanza!

Help?
The National Guard cannot arrest illegal aliens, the National Guard cannot process illegal aliens, the National Guard cannot actually detain people smuggling drugs inside the United States
This is another case of a politician grandstanding for the base.

Something that Obama should have thought of but he didn't. If Obama had sent the guards down there you would have been all for it.

I posted yesterday about what was actually seen, just in the past few weeks down on the border of Texas, by a sitting US Representative and a sitting US Senator. The Senator was even allowed to ask the border patrol questions about how they themselves believe would "stem the tide" of these people coming across the border. The majority of them all said the same thing - deport them immediately. And, when asked if the National Guard would be a help or henderence - they said it would help simply because "the more eyes we have down here, the better". The Senator went on to talk about being in a helicopter and "rounding up" nearly 20 illegals and continually flying around them until the border patrol could get there to arrest them.

It's very clear that the major news outlets really do not report what's actually happening anywhere along the US / Mexican border and that's truely sad. Many "pray rugs" and other "mosilum religious" items have been found. Bodies that were buried - of all ages, but mostly what the border patrol is founding is the drug cartel's are the ones winning this war.

Like they say - when all else fails - follow the money.

Hmm, a simple Google of your assertion reveals that the Guard resources will be accompanying Sheriff's Deputies, State Police Officers, local Police Officers, local Constables and other similar Texas Certified Peace Officers. These Certified Officers can, indeed, detain and arrest people crossing the border.

Accordingly, the Guard is serving as a viable force-multiplier to add eyes, ears, and physical presence to the border security law enforcement operations. A single Certified Officer has an expanded view of the border via the Guard serving as boots-on-the-ground drone equivalents.

So, there is, in fact, a specific plan in-place that will have a direct effect on border security enforcement.

For cartoonists and comedians, yes. For the country, a disaster.
