Comparison of Tamron 150/600 & Sigma 150/500 on D800 / D7000

Thomas Stirr of Photography Life recently did a Tamron 150/600 review on a D800 shooting BIF.

He just posted a Sigma 150/500 review using the D800 & D7000 and made some comparisons between the two lens.

He found the Tamron had focusing issues with the D7000, likely to be software related and possibly corrected in later upgrades. They were not evident using the D800.

The Sigma lens did not exhibit this problem on either body, however the Sigma lens on the D800 did not take advantage of the 800's modern optic design.

Any D7000 users have access to the Tamron 150/600 and care to comment?

I have had the Tamron 150/600 on my D7000 for about a month now. I cannot compare to any other body because I only have the D7000. I have noticed some "lag"....I was unsure whether this was because I was new to hand holding a lens at 600mm or an issue with the lens. Birds in flight tended to move around quite a bit in the viewfinder....hence the focus would hunt......so for me I am assuming the "lag" in focus is due to a lack of 600mm handheld experience on my part.

IIRC the initial release of the Canon version had some problems that were corrected via a software upgrade also. I don't know the response time.

With the varied models of cameras covering a lot of technological evolution I'm thinking it is not critical to find a software bug BUT Tameron must respond promptly and not follow Nikon's lead in dealing with the 600/610 fiasco.

On the bright side, it looks like the basic 150/600 design can perform if the software can catch up to the level of the hardware and the person on the other side of the lens, knows what their doing.

Could this problem be part of the reason the deliveries of the 150/600 Nikon variant are so far out?

FWIW, For BIF with a relatively clear background, I started using (D7000) the 9 point focus and upped the Aperture to about F10. Helped more than anything else I've tried.
