Have the 24-70 on my D610. My favorite lens. Would I notice a major difference at 24mm between both lenses? Know that in very poor light, the 24 1.4 would probably perform much better. Has anyone had any experience with both lenses?

The 24 is a prime lens and the 24-70 is a zoom. The 24 is technically better at 24 than the 24-70 set at 24. However other than the larger aperature on the 24 there is so little of a difference between the two lenses that you would never see it in a photo. If I could have only one or the other I would pick the 24-70 for its versatility. ;)

I already own the 24-70 and love it. My favorite lens on my D610. The 24 got such great reviews. I guess that if you are going to shoot in 1.4 99% of the time, the 24 would be better.

I personally would benefit much more with the 24-70 compared to the 24 1.4 lens. The 24-70 is a hard lens to beat out, great fast focus with Nano coating, as well as a great all around carry short range lens.

I bet you didn't know he lived in Dallas when he passed away in 1995. The Mantles are very very nice people.
Mickey was the BEST!!

I met Mickey three times. A real gentleman. Mickey was the most gifted baseball player I ever saw. Unfortunately, he did not realize his full potential.

I think the Nikon 24mm f/1.4 is fantastic. I recently got the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 for weddings/events, but I still generally prefer the primes. I'll try to take a few pictures tomorrow to post.

On paper the 24mm f/1.4 is a better lens but it is so much less versatile than the 24-70mm f/2.8.

You are not likely to see any obvious difference between the two except that the former allows you to shoot at f/1.4.

Unless you will use the lens a lot from F1.4 to F2 the two lenses are pretty comparable from F2.8 to F11.

Word of caution - on the 24 1.4, the corners and edges are pretty crappy with the F1.4 at 1.4 and 2 - you really need to close the lens down to F2.8 or smaller. Clearly not an issue if you are cropping, but its a characteristic you should be aware of.
