I see a new business developing. Somehow find out when containers fall into the sea and scoop them up.

I wonder why they don't. Each one must have a fortune in goods inside. I wonder what kind of insurance premiums they pay.

I thought about that too.
I was not aware of that until the plane went down and they were looking for it and found some in the ocean that they thought might be debris from the plane.

Without doing a search to find the number of containers shipped annually worldwide, I doubt that number is a large percentage. Most are lost at sea in storms and go right to the bottom so GPS, even if it located them would not help because recovery would far exceed the value of the contents after they have been drowned in salt water.
