Is there any way to recover pix lost from memory card?

I visited America in the spring, and took zillions of pix - only to discover that all the pictures of Las Vegas had completely disappeared from the memory card for what reason I've no idea.

Anybody know a way to recover them if they're still there?

Contact the card's company, I.e. Sandisk. They in turn sent me to LC Technologies, the maker of the card. I was given a code number. I had to purchase a card reader so you might want to get one in advance. You plug your memory card into the card reader which has been plugged into a USB port and with the code number and instructions they direct you to, you then proceed. Hope this helps and hope you are successful. If I'd not been successful, an option would have been to send the card away for them to try, to the tune of $225.00 for a 16GB memory card. An option I don't think I could have done, even though the photos were precious to me.

Stop using it and try Recuva by Piriform

Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery http://www.piriform.com/recuva

What ever you do don't format the disk. There is free recovery software that can help. ZAR (Zero Assumption Recovery) is one that worked well for me. There are others out there, but one I tried, locked me into a program that wouldn't let me get out of. Some SD card manufacturers have sites as well. If you use ZAR; first install it on your computer, then put in your damaged card. Click the Image Recovery (FREE) option. You will need to point the program to your bad card. Make sure to select a destination folder that's on your hard disk and not back on the SD card. Cards can get corrupted, especially on Canon gear if you don't format the card in the camera after deleting them from the card. I always purge my cards after each shoot, then format them in the camera before use. Hope this helps.

Card Recovery is another good one. Free trial proves it will work, then you pay for the software to use it, about $25 if memory serves me well. Good luck whatever you do!

I had the same problem the other day. I used "Wiserecovery". Worked like a dream. I got all 2,000 photos back from a compact flash card. Unlike CardRecovery it's free!

There are several ways to do this. Most importantly, don't use that card for anything until you attempt to retrieve the files.

The software I've used is Recuva <-- I'm not sure that's how it's spelled, but close enough for Google to help.

Guess you never heard. "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"
Both San Disk and Lexar have good recover utilities that work

Yikes! When they say "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas", they aren't kidding!

This happened to me after a landscape shoot in Death Valley. Coincidentally, I discovered my dilemma when I arrived in Las Vegas and was attempting to transfer the images to my laptop.

I was able to recover all of 352 missing RAW images using RescuePro.
As others have assured you, there is a solution. Good luck.
