Far away and long ago, there was a conversation about some sort of "pocket guide" (probably out of print) and I think it came up in a discussion of the Sunny 16 Rule. Anyway, There was some great feedback about it on the Hog and even some Amazon links. I was on the verge of ordering one but didn't. It came back to mind today and I looked in my Amazon Wish List expecting to find it there and it wasn't. Can anyone recall the details including the links? I did a search on this forum and couldn't find it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob
I am not sure if this is what you might be referring to, but in the '50s thru the early '70s Kodak published a very handy indexed pocketable guide about 4x5 inches which covered many aspects of photography. It was called something like the Kodak Photographic Kodaguide. I remember having one then, but I haven't seen them in a very long time.
Built into the guide were neat charts with exposure wheels for determining exposure under many different conditions, actual filter samples that allowed one to see each filter's effect on the photo (yellow, dark yellow, red, green, etc.), a foldable tape measure for determining distance in macro shooting, even some printing paper samples available at the time and much more.
It was a very handy item for a photo newbie.
I found a YouTube video of the guide at:

I had two of these little yellow books.
I bought the first in the early 80s.
It was brilliant. It condensed the equivalent of a set of photography encyclopedias into a small yellow 50 plus page booklet about 8 inches by 2-1/2 inches.
I loaned it to someone who never gave it back but swore they had.
I bought another one that I thought looked the same, and it had some of the same stuff in it but in comparison it was a pale imitation.
The really good one was probably from 1983, the revised and updated one that wasn't as good was probably from 1991 or so.
I found this, not sure if it is the right one or not, but it is the one i would buy.
