The other day Tuesday I hit the "shut down" button and then accidentally hit the power button on my computer while updates were installing and now the computer is on the blue screen for hours and hours "operations are in progress, please wait....etc" Is there anything I can do to get back to using my computer?
Thank You
David
If you do not have a Shut Down button on your monitor you can hold in the Power button on your processor until it shuts down. Hopefully your computer will restart. The blue sceen usually is the "Blue screen of death" and your processor took a dirt nap. Good luck.
Which kind of computer is it?
Have you tried prayer?
Have you tried unplugging it?
How are you able to post this question?
Do you have more than one computer?
Have you considered replacing it?
I hope all this free help is better than paying an expert.
Do you have system disks?
How computer savvy are you? On a scale of 1-10. 1 being Bill Gates 10 being a Luddite?
Are you having fun yet?
Good luck.

Thank you hand gunner that worked. thankfully it wasn't the blue screen of death but windows 7 splash screen.
don't know if this will help you with your issue or not but, try unplugging it wait about five minutes and then reboot your computor

Glad I could help. Holding in the Power button isn't always the best but sometimes there is no other option.

When it comes to computers I learned more by mistake then I did on purpose. lol
Just use your restore disk. Oh wait. That doesn't exist. Ok. Next time is starts, if it goes to the blue screen, Press and hold the power button till it does go off. Then restart in safe mode. See if you can go to a restore, then just do a restore. Don't know if this is a help or not. I've never been where you are.

Hey Bill Got it working using handgunners approach almost the same as your suggestion. See above. Thank you for your suggestion.
I don't in any way mean to be sarcastic but the "blue screen" probably means your computer is fried. I would highly recommend an iMac. Just my .02ยข
If the "blue screen" has clouds... you're ok
