The good news: my em-1 has an astonishing array of options. the bad news: my em-1 has an astonishing array of options.
I've ordered the printed manual, but I really want a good guide.
If you had to rely on only one, which one would you choose? Many thanks in advance for your advice.

I think David Busch's guide is the only book out yet. It's pretty good. I had to buy it from ibooks, it wasn't on Amazon yet when I ordered about 3 weeks ago.
The biofos online guide is free and helpful.

Gary Friedman has just released his em-1 book. From what I've read so far, it is very good.

^^^Gary Friedman is HANDS DOWN the absolute BEST third party writer of owners manuals in the business!!!
I have a couple of his books for Sony cameras and let me tell you; David Busch can't hold a candle to him.
Friedman is a Rocket Scientist who is ALSO an award winning photographer and self-professed camera geek. He does an EXCELLENT job of describing each and EVERY feature and function of your camera... and better yet, tells you when and WHY to use them.
He explains the most complex concepts in plain, easy to understand English, and his books are excellent for ALL readers REGARDLESS of their skill and experience levels.
To top it off, he offers a money back satisfaction guarantee. AND allows you to download the book to multiple platforms.
His books are worth THREE times the asking price, and once you read one you'll understand EXACTLY what I'm raving about. ;)
Absolutely agree. Friedman's books, including this one, read like a conversation with a knowledgeable friend.

Many thanks, I'm sold!
You won't be disappointed, and if you are, you'll have 2 weeks to get your money back.
Congratulations on your EM-1. I also bought one several weeks ago and my head is spinning with options, sub-options....Bought David Busch's book and, while it's ok, I would like to find something more. Almost made the mistake of taking Olympus up on their offer to buy their DVD on the camera- until I read the reviews. Can't believe that such a great camera has such poor documentation/ resources available. Will look up the other author mentioned above to try that book out. I'm a newbie and i don't mind a 'dumbed down' version to start with the basics!
