I can't find the basic panel

I am just learning to use Lightroom 5.5. I have somehow lost the Basic Panel on the right side. Instead of sliders I have a very basic choice of buttons to toggle. I can't find any triangles to click on to bring the basic panel back. I don't have a 'basic' choice in 'Window'/'Panels'.

In the Develop Module, just above where it says "Previous" and "Reset" is a black panel. Right click on this panel and on the pop up menu, make sure the first eight items are ticked.
Then click on the word "Basic" and your Basic panel will be restored to you.
Or, press Control + 1
(that is the figure 1 on the keyboard)

Thank you so much. I got it back. I had to click the vertical black strip on the right side of the screen. I was looking for something to click on the top of the screen like I did in Version 4.

Not sure what you mean by that. Operationally version 4 and version 5 are almost identical. The visible changes are primarily a few new features.

I think because it is on the right side vertical panel in version 5.5, I accidently clicked on it while using the sliders. Also clicking on the top black strip doesn't give me the drop down list with 'basic' listed on it like I expected it would.

Still not sure what you mean. I have both Version 4.4 and Version 5.5 and they look almost identical.
