I'm trying to find a way to adapt DSLR camera bodies to a Questar which requires old Pentax SLR lens thread. Any ideas?

I know Celestron and Meade sell adapters for other cameras, are you sure Questar doesn't?

The old pentax thread is called the M42 thread mount. Search for "M42 to (your cameras mount) adapter"

Are you SURE it's a Pentax thread and not a T-mount? If it's a T-mount, you can buy any adapter in any of hundreds or thousands of locations?
My Sony Alpha lens adapter to M-42 will require "manual" setting of the camera. Many of these old glass are excellent. Several years ago, perhaps before adapters became easy to find and cheap, M-42s were very low cost. Now the price has come up because the M-42 will, with adapter, fit any camera.
You can travel to China and go to markets, or you can order off of E-Bay. Surprising the low cost, free shipping, and rapid shipping.
Note: Some Sony Alpha adapters have electronics that will fool the camera, others require manual and ignoring the "no lens" screen protest.
It may be helpful if you camera bodies you are using.

Good point Mogal, both dia. 42mm, they have different pitches. Incidently, NO screw thread associated with cameras should be designated 'M'. This indicates a metric standard coarse thread, which would never fit.
Thread pitch for T mount is .75 & for M42 is 1.0 although both are 42mm diameter.... They are not interchangeable...

The pitch for threads designated M42, is 4.5 mm.
Both pentax and T mount are called special fine threads,
in engineering circles.
Mind you, I appreciate it may be different across the pond.
I looked it up after you posted this & this is what Wiki has to say about M42 thread pitch... Maybe it is different "across the pond", but this originated on your side of the pond...

Just get an M-42 lens adapter.

Obviously not, but the OP would not be the first person to make an error in identification.

There's also the Pentax P/PK mount with tabs.
