Which is better, PSE or Lightroom?
Lightroom: it allows you to control the organisation whereas PSE works within its own confines, is cumbersome and is slow.
On the other hand, the PSE Editor makes up for its organising ability.

Thank you Searcher. I always appreciate your advice.

I agree with Searcher, but if you can afford it, get both Lightroom and PSE. They work well together.

Lightroom but get PSCC+LR and get the best of both worlds

What (more) can I do with PSE that I can not do with LR 5.5?

Think of LR as a "digital darkroom" and as such it's geared towards "developing images" and "printing" and such.
PSE is a "pixel manipulator" ala "move that head onto that other body" or "remove that ugly car from the scene" which LR cannot do.
Both are different tools for different jobs.

With LR, you can organise and manage the storage of your images, conduct searches in every way imaginable, convert raw files for print and or web. map your photoshoots (you do not need a gps for this) and a retouch the images to an extent (LR is basically a GLOBAL editing system rather than a PIXEL editing system. By that I mean you can change exposure, contrast, saturation etc. overall. Although you can localise some of that using the brushes, for finely detailed work you really need a PIXEL editor.
This is where Elements comes in, you can create layers, masks and select different objects in the image, work on the images (if you want to) pixel by pixel (even to me that sounds like hard work but it can be done), and do lots more that LR cannot do.
LR and Elements, (LR and any pixel editor) can work together very effectively and almost seamlessly.
LR and Elements are not the same, they complement each other.
You could substitute GIMP for Elements, or the full blown Photoshop, or Coral applications. LR will work with all and everyone of them.
Can LR use the photo tags I have set up in PSE?

I don't know. I never use the Organiser. but I did open the Organiser, looked at an image that had previously been to LR, saw the LR tags perfectly.
I then added a tag in the Organiser, closed Elements, opened LR but the new tag was not present.
I removed the image from the LR catalogue and reimported. Still the tag I placed in PSE did not show up in LR.
Perhaps someone else who understands the Organiser better would try it, I may have not been attaching the tag correctly.
