I have a chance to purchase a brand new sony rx1, it is listed at $2700 but 50% off! at local bx, anyone have this camera? And is it worth that price?

In my opinion the RX1 is ridiculously over-priced. I would take a good look at the Sony A7 or A7s if you were interested in going the Sony route, many more options, especially interchangeable lenses make the A7 series a much better buy.

The image quality of the RX-1 is actually better than the A7/7S, but MT Shooter is 100% correct about flexibility.
The RX-1 is basically a camera built around a high quality lens... REALLY over priced for what you get. Think Leica M9 only with great resolution. ;)

Buy it and ebay it. You should be able to make a few dollars on it. Unless it turns out that you really like it. Check out the used prices at a sony forum to make sure it will sell higher than what you can buy it at.
