I need a printer for 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10 prints. I shoot barrel races and need a new printer. I would like to stay with Epson or Cannon. I just recently purchased a new Epson Artisan 730 to replace my old 730 that had a plugged nozzle, believe it or not the new one has a plugged light magenta nozzle right out of the box, GRRRRR! Your input is greatly appreciated.

Here's a good deal with a $300 mail in rebate.

Wow, I have never had one clogged out of the box! Even so, after having owned hp, Canon, and Epson, I still feel the Epsons are the best bang for the buck. Especially for a six color printer.

The newer Canon Pixma Pro-100 is big, solid, heavy and is on a rebate sale making it very cheap. You get the printer, 50 sheets of big paper and ink for $398. Then you fill out the paper work, wait a couple weeks and Canon sends you an American Express cash card with $300 on it. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/893738-REG/Canon_6228b002_Pixma_Pro_100_Photo_Inkjet.html

The other two printers in the Pro series are more expensive.

The usual criticism will be that ink costs are a little higher than some other printers. If you do a lot of printing and do it frequently, you might consider doing some reading at Red River: http://www.redrivercatalog.com/cost-of-inkjet-printing.html

I don't know how Adorama works it, but B&H does not charge sales tax in most states, ships most things for free, has added "expedited" shipping on orders over $50 and has amazing service and return policies.

I've bought from both companies and they have pretty much the same policies. The prices are usually the same on just about everything, it really comes down to who has what in stock.
Adorama offers free shipping, no tax, and a free package of photo paper with this printer.

Hell of a deal on a hell of a printer. Epson 3880 is also exceptional but not at 11 times the price.

I have 2 canon printers, a MX922 that I use for pretty much everything - VERY good photographs up to and including 8x10's for larger I use a Pro 9000. I'm very happy with both printers, the only complain I have is that some of the ink for the Pro 9000 I can't buy locally and have to order it from Canon.

If you look at the rebate form, it appears the $300 "rebate" is for a printer/camera combination. In other words, you must but the printer AND a camera from a list of specific cameras. The stand-alone "rebate" is only $200.

The Adorama link is for the printer only and the rebate is for $300.

No. It is a printer AND paper.

If you look, one of the options is to "buy" 50 sheets of full sized paper on the same invoice to get the $300. B&H (and Adorama) provide the paper at $0.00. So, like I wrote, you get Printer, Ink and Paper. If you estimate the value of the paper and ink, the printer is about as close to free as it gets.

I think it is clever. Canon is in the photography business and wants their new photo printer line to be well accepted. Many probably would not try out the big 13x19 prints if they didn't make it so easy. So, they are paying you to do it with the rebate.

It worked on me. I was so stunned by the quality of the Pro-100 full sized 13x19 prints, it changed my photography. I have created a "gallery" wall with neutral paint, 5 spot lights on the ceiling and a set of quick change frames.

Canon loves me! And the love will go on. Every time I get a better than average image for my gallery wall, I use about $2.50 worth of Canon ink.

BTW, the easy way to get one ink cartridge at a time is from Amazon, where all but one color has dropped $2 in price. The printer gives you a low ink warning before it gives you the out of ink warning. It gives me time to push the 1-Click Prime button and get the ink in two days. Even with a low ink warning there is enough for another print or two.
