just took this in my backyard, 3 pm, 1/125 f5.6 300mm w/flash on tripod. RAW NEF format Nikon D3200
used no photo editing, feel free to critique
Beautiful! In full size that would make an AWESOME wallpaper background on any nature lover's computer!!
Hard to tell much about quality with a 14KB jpeg, but your composition/color/saturation looks good. Since you are not copywriting, I think your name detracts. Would have preferred not to see shadows caused by flash because the subject is so soft edged...
thanks mrjcall, I don't understand the 14kb jpeg comment, I shot using RAW JPG set on camera, I would love to take photos like your profile pix I just can't get that "pop" that I want. Would really love to take some classes or other help.

When I saved the photo to look more closely, it saved as a 14 KB jpeg. That is apparently what you uploaded to the site. Try uploading a higher quality version and let's take another look. By pop, tell me what you mean?
Your photo looks professional, mine look amateurish.

From the look of your rose, you're doing pretty well with many important issues that some never do get. :)

The camera setting would have been "RAW
plus JPG". This site can't display RAW images, and the chances are that your photo viewer on your computer can only "see" jpegs, so you must have uploaded the jpeg version.
What we are seeing is a thumbnail version of what you uploaded. If you want us to have access to the original, you need to check the box next to (store original). That will give us access to the full-size jpeg.
The list of viewable formats is given at the bottom of the page you get when you click REPLY or QUOTE REPLY. You'll see the list where it says:-
If you want to display a picture in your post, then please make sure to use GIF, JPG, BMP or PNG files.
If, by "pop" you mean vividness, there are various ways of doing that in post processing - contrast, clarity etc. It looks like your colours are strong enough, so you don't need Saturation or Vibrance. The rose might benefit from a little contrast, and I'd say the background has been rendered perfectly.
Sometimes a small amount of Sharpen can help, but this subject suits the soft look.
