Rustled her out of some shrubbery using a beating square. Still working on my diffuser. Can't quite seem to get it like it was last year.
But I'll get there.

Thanks nanava. I've been very slow getting into macro this year, but after the first of August, I look forward to diving in head first again.

The photo in the Original Post did not show as much green above the eyes as the real life specimen has. I'm posting another view that is more illustrative of that character.

These look good Jim, Nice detail, clarity and focus. Shots seem to have a yellow cast to my eyeballs. You may want to shoot a grey card and make sure white balance is correct. I know my diffuser produces a cast even though it's white.

Very sharp shot with excellent details. Just curious, what is a beating square.

Both editions nice but I prefer the second with the little bit of green.

Excellent shot, the texture and eyes are "Fodder for Fun" ... the fantastic detail can be used in part for other photos just to add a little horror spice. (I grew up in the classic era of Horror Films!!)

During the last prez prelims, I used a basic spider (this species) duplicating fur for entire background and duplicated the eyes. Then I added the faint image of the candidate in each along with a few flies in the spider fur background. Indeed the more they struggled with issues the more trapped they were.

It's a light colored (close to white) cloth sheet, about 3 feet square, that is held beneath vegetation while the limbs/leaves are shaken by hitting them with a stick. The idea is that insects hiding in the vegetation will be shaken off onto the sheet, from which they can be collected (and/or photographed).
Here is an on line photo: http://home.nps.gov/boha/naturescience/images/beating_sheet_1.jpg

Yes. Aspirators are often used when collecting very small insects. Just be sure the tube leading back to your mouth is WELL COVERED. My windpipe has taken in more than my share of tiny critters this way. :)

Thanks for the information. I need to find me one of these rigs. Is there any online stores that marked something like this.

They're VERY easy to make.
All you need is a drill, two stiff slats of wood, some stout cloth, a bolt and nut.
Well............ that seems to be the HARD WAY.
Here's a video that makes it even simpler:
