I purchased this camera recently and have had some issues with it.

1. I cannot bring up in the menu page 7 and 8.
2. I purchased the 1.7 Tele converter and does not magnify any more then regular optical Zome.
I need page 7 in the menu because thats where format is and on page 8 there is the reset program. If you have this camera, let me know what you think. Thanks for you help.

Not familiar with that exact camera, but check your FUNCTION dial. Some cameras have settings that only show up when in the AUTO setting and others that only come up in Prog/Tv/Av modes, etc.

Make sure you go to the menu with the "wrench" icon. This is the "setup" part of the overall menu. Then, at the top of the screen, you'll see 1 through 8. Format is at the bottom of the #7 screen.

Regarding the tele converter, I strongly advise you to take advantage of the free youtube videos on this camera that have been done by Graham Houghton. This link should take you to the video that's specifically devoted to the teleconverter.

From the manul

Do not turn this unit off, remove its battery or card, or disconnect the AC adaptor (optional) when the access indication is lit (when pictures are being written, read or deleted, or the built-in memory or the card is being formatted). Furthermore, do not subject the camera to vibration, impact or static electricity. The card or the data on the card may be damaged, and this unit may no longer operate normally.

I don't own the FZ200, but I do own 3 other Lumix cameras (including the FZ35). I don't know if the menu on mine would match yours or not so, I agree, go to Graham's videos on YouTube. And don't be shy about posting a comment/question to him. He's super nice and extremely helpful. I've asked him lots of stuff.

I have this camera in front of me now.
1. Put the selector on top of the camera to "P".
2. Press "Menu/Set" button on back of the camera
3. Press the left side of the ring around the Menu/set button. This will move the selector to the left side of the screen and turn the dividing line to yellow.
4. Press the bottom of the ring around the Menu/set button to the "wrench" icon.
5. Press the right side of the ring around the "menu/set" button.
6. Press the top side of the ring to get to page 8 immediately.
7. Press the top side again twice to get to page 7 and the format function.

Violameista= I finally got page 7 and 8 thanks to you. I did format the card and now my mind is relieved. I suppose you play Viola If I am reading your avatar correctly. I am a trombone player and just finished my career with a local Sym. band and Symphony after 42 years. In regards to the FZ200 I am in awe of this thing. Its just that its got so many bells and whistles that it is baffling when things don"t go right. I shot canon for years and could pick up any model and have it working quickly. I did not realize that I purchased a computer that also takes pictures on the side. Again, Many thanks.

You are entirely welcome. I have gotten pretty comfortable with the fz200, so if you have any other questions just send me a note.

BTW, has the video solved your telephoto extension question? I have one and it works very well.

I play viola and violin in 3 community orchestras in the area and in several chamber groups as well.

Hi Vhd. I can't understand the tele-converter not
magnifying more than it would without it.
Are you sure?

You're welcome. I have to admit I have a great love for the Lumix series. I know, I know... it's not Canon or Nikon... but those Leica lenses... "love".

Viola- Have not had time to fool with the telephoto problem. Will tackle that Tuesday. l can see that you are very busy with your music. As I mention, I am basically trying to retire from playing, however our church has a nice little Orch. and they let me play with them when my instrument is needed. I would love to continue to visit you via e-mail if you so desire. If so send me a private message and I all send it to you. I don't think its a good idea to do it on the hedge.

I'll send you a PM.

Regarding the tele extender: Have you compared photos taken with and without the teleextender? Or are you just comparing the viewfinder designation of magnification? It will read 24X at maximum zoom with and without the extender, but will in actuality be 24*1.7 with the extender in place.
