got myself a new lens today for my 700D. Its my first lens i have bought as i only had the kit lens and i think its great but would like a few opinions from others who might have had it. I only paid 140 ($190) for it
You got an excellent deal. This a very good standard zoom lens, it is not fast enough at low light however it can render excellent images
I had that same lens with me when my wife and I went to Bora Bora in 2012. With the T3i that I had at the time it gave excellent results. For the money it's hard to beat for shots in decent light. I got some outstanding photos with it and the EF-S 18-55mm that I had at the time. Looks like you got a good deal on a good lens.
The predecessor to that lens was part of the 550d kit I bought in 2011. I've taken lots of good photos with it from Hawaii, Costa Rica, Austria, England, and other places. You can get excellent photos with it. Enjoy!

It is a good value lens and capable of good work. I think you will know when you need ( not want ) something better . You will also know why.
Enjoy it , take lots of pictures until the day comes that you know you need something more . That could be a day or years from know

I have an 18-200 that is still my favorite lens. I do want some further reach but the wider is even more important just now. I would gladly pay $190 for that that 55-250. Amazing. Let us know how it works for you and show the pictures soon.
