Grain in my photos - with samples

I posted this subject questioning if my grainy photos were because of not using full frame. There was some discussion and helpful info but, some asked to see a sample.

Here are 2 with Down load set. In Elements, I selected auto exposure on the raw file and saves as large .jpeg. No other pp done.

Appreciate any help.

That's just messed up...

The first one is at ISO 800 but even then there's something wrong here... You've got a great camera and images should be way better.

Have you tried:
- resetting back to factory defaults
- a different lens
- ISO 100
- is noise reduction turned off? (should get turned on with camera reset)

Ive seen dog show photos a lady took with a 60D as ISO 3200 that were not nearly that grainy.

Is this straight from the camera or has some software touched it?

Looks like Photoshop Elements... could this have been exported and messed up by PSE? What does an image straight form the camera look like?

The grain isn't in the unprocessed image... something is happening in PSE

The point is he's got a great camera - the noise shouldn't be there to begin with...

or is it that he may of cropped a lot of the photo. the lens he is using also can be the problem it might not be calibrated right for the camera.

I did not crop these photos. This is a new Tamron 150-600. Who puts out the firmware to calibrate or is it manual process? I do have a Canon 70-200 4.5L that takes excellent photos but, that is at 200mm not 600mm

Thanks,
RegisG

I had a problem with my sigma 150 500 had to send it in. to get it calibrated with my camera. I had to send the camera as well. the lens did well for about a year and then the problem happened again. I then bought a canon 400mm prime lens and no more problems. I have read a lot about the 3rd party lenses having focus issues.

Are you sure that you did not just over-sharpen your photos?

I don't see much grain in the original shot from the camera which any there was the 800 ISO, but I also don't see anything in focus on the Deer shot.

yea, there's a focus issue but that's separate from the grain I think.

Well, I'll never use that auto button on elements again, for sure.

Thank you,

[quote=RegisG]I will discuss bird and deer data and post camera data. The ISO is high and I can not speak to that issue. At 600 mm the shutter should not be faster than 1/600. With f stop of 6.3 the lens is wide open. It is not a fast ($) lens. You shoud have much better light so that you can adjust camera to better capture.
