I will be up in Glacier in August 2014. There is certainly alot of material on where to go but I would be interested in any tip from the hogger's group. Perhaps mention a favorite spot or activity, Anything would be appreciated. - Thanks!!!

You're going at a better time than me - just got back from there two days ago. Wanted to hit some spots up by Logan Pass on Going To The Sun, but it was still closed! Certainly hit Grinnell Lake, as you'll probably have better beargrass than I did. If you're into waterfalls, Baring and Apikuni are nice. Avalanche and Sunrift gorges are also good photo spots.

Going to the Sun road is the main artery from one side of the park to the other. Without it, you have to make a 3 hour drive around the entire park to get from east to west (I did this). It goes over the continental divide, and gets heavily drifted over with snow each year. The drift is so huge it has it's own Wikipedia Page!

Each year giant snow plows work like crazy to get Going to the Sun road open. It usually happens around mid-June, but every time I've gone it has still been closed in July. It just opened a few days ago, but the area is still very snowbound. By August it should be cleared up so you can get shots like this.

If you're up to a good hike, Iceberg Lake, 10 mi round trip. The first few hundred feet are uphill but after that level. Did it in Sept 2001 & considering doing it again when we are there this Sept. Stunning.

I was able to go several years ago and want to go back again it is so beautiful there it will make you cry. The pictures don't do it justice. If the road to the sun is open diffentally go I had a brown bear run out in front of me you got to be fast with the camera. Logan Pass is another favoite, personally I don't think there is anything more beautiful then Glacier Park.

I've been to Glacier three times and you are right. It is one of the most beautiful places you could ever see. Haven't been there in a number of years but Hidden Lake is another beautiful spot to take pictures. Took some up close and personal pictures of mountain goats on that hike.

Iceberg lake is a beautiful place to go My daughter and I hiked up there and when we reached it Jumped In all for about 2 seconds. There was still a large iceberg on the west side.
Also there is a chalet on the mountain top on the west side There are also two chalets on the mountain top they are hike in only http://visitmt.com/listing/categories_NET/MoreInfo.aspx?IDRRecordID=11831 Its a pretty good hike but a lifetime memory
http://graniteparkchalet.com/ is the other hike in chalet. I cant remember which one I stayed at Granite park is cheaper quite a bit than sperry

Undoubtably one of the most beautiful landscape sites in the world. If you can drive the Logan's Pass (Going to the Sun Road) do it. The Red Bus Tours are excellent and if you have the time do it too.

One little gem I found was a hiking trail called "Gunsight Pass" just beautiful with many paint pot pools.

The whole park is just a marvel. Camping can be found at Apgar and many other areas too.

FYI the restaurant/nature centre on Going to the Sun Road celebrates Christmas on August 25 since they are closed in the winter. That may have changed though over the years.

Oh yeah, stop at every roadside turnout/view point and I mean every one. They all have something wonderful to show you.

Finally on your way to Glacier Nat Park be sure you take some time to drive the Montana hi-ways at night. I have never seen so many stars in the sky in my life.

Take a hike and go to Cracker Lake-absolutely one of the best and prettiest places you will go.
