Very sharp? You must be joking. Fairly sharp (considering it is an extender) would be the best I could give it.
Thanks Jim Bob for the upgrade. I will be happy with the
"Fairly Sharp" rating. :-D
And I have two other pictures that I think are "soft" using the same lens and TC
Those two people on the boat look like they are really enjoying life

Nice and fairly sharp set Frank.
Thanks ebbote. I am just a beginner using a TC (lens doubler).

What part of the picture are you looking at??? Could you explain what you mean when you say "considering it is an extender" in reference to the degree of sharpness. With this set up only the subject of focus will be sharp all else should and will be soft. The degree of softness will depend on the distance from camera to subject also. As for a hand held shot at 400mm I still think it's a sharp image!

Connected a Canon EF 2X III to my 70-200 zoom for the first time to see what kind of results I would get. Edited slightly with Elements 11. Two different focal lengths with the 2X...handheld.
I don't get the second shot. Is the plane missing a....whatchama-call-it?

No! I think it is still there, you just can't see it.
