you people missed the point he didn't say vote republican he said to embrace conservatism and less government not more!!!
In the beginning of this country's life, the Powers that Were left the rules up to the various states and territories. So we had no voting for women, slavery, child slavery, horrendous working conditions in the factories for women, working children in the factories for 12-14 hours a day for pennies a day. Native Americans were killed at leisure, knowing that no punishment would be forth coming. And these are just a few examples.
It was only in the beginning of the 1900s, did we come to understand that just maybe all people are worthy. Here we are, 114 years later, and we still fight the fight. We can't attack women, children, and Native Americans anymore, so we attack homosexuals, Muslims, Blacks, and whoever else we feel should have no life.
The groups that are attacking are the groups that want less government, whether they are 'right' or 'left'. They want it because it allows a very few to have it all, and it allows that few to treat others in any way they wish.
It is unfortunate that our present government has evolved into the monstrosity that it is. It is top heavy and corrupt. But think about how the states would do on their own. Since the Civil Rights Act was re-interpreted, some states have already found ways to keep certain kinds of people from voting, certain kinds of people from marrying, certain kinds of people from holding jobs. And each day, certain members of the Congress seek ways to let states deal with 'undesirables' in any way they see fit.
Neither way is a good path to follow. Chaos usually follows when there is a refusal to compromise and find common ground.
At this point in time, we are refusing to even look for any common ground. It will be the death of us if things don't change.
