I am definitely not a photographer, but I love "taking pictures" of everything including grandkids, landscapes, pets etc, etc. I own an old Olympus 730UZ but just got a Canon sx40 that I'm learning how to use. I have been looking at all of your very wonderful photos and reading the comments every day for awhile now and just got the nerve to introduce myself. I know this forum will help me with my hobby and hopefully I can learn from you fine people. The first 2 are from my Olympus, #3 is from the sx40. All are straight from the camera.
#1 - I like the color in the leaves
#2 - Would have liked the feeder down and to left or right. Looks cut off in photo.
#3 - Fence. Nothing else comes to me. But if it was a more narrow angle from right might have looked more spectacular.

PS: I'm a newbie also - Nice Pics

I would have cropped more around the feeder and made the hummingbird the focus.... jmo but then I am new to this also.

Thank you. I don't do much post editing yet, but with your guys advise I'll learn!
Hi, and welcome to the UHH. I also have an sx40, and I love it. How do you like yours?

I really like it. I researched for awhile, and liked this one for the obvious zoom and the different burst modes. I'ts fun to "catch" the grandkids doing things, but I was never fast enough with the Olympus. Can't wait till summer when they're outside running around... and not in front of the tv or gaming system

Welcome and for sure you have come to the right place to learn and share and have a wonderful time, that's what it's all about.
Welcome, looks like you are off to a good start!!! I like the all the photos, first is favorite, #2 work on closer shot and/or cropping, #3 needs more contrast and perhaps a different angle. keep shooting and posting!!!
