Nikon D7000, Nikon 105mm lens, Yongnuo speedlight 560111 and softbox. f16. 1/200 sec. ISO 200.
It is very hot here at the moment and not many insects about.

Nice Brenda. Pretty ugly looking. :) We are so wet here, I think the bugs are drowning.:)

Hi Linda, these were from the garden, the earwig was right inside but you could feel from the outside things weren't as they should be.

Love to give everyone that needs it some. We have had plenty this spring and going into the summer. It is also very muggy here even on the nice days with all the humidity coming out of the ground. :) Rained again today for a while.:( but my grass is going great!

Nice composition and focus on both shots Brenda. Illumination is hot. Do you have your diffuser fully extended (puffed out) from the flash head?

Thanks for your comments. I have not yet put the sticks in my diffuser but I think it is about time to do so. The reason I have hesitated to do so is that while it is still flexible I can bend it down a little to overlook the subject more. Would this be the reason they are 'hot'? I think I must make an extender like LoneRangerFinder has demonstrated.

Yes, most likely this is the reason there are hot spots. Allen has built a nice diffuser that is producing good results. A good one to use as your template.

Thanks, I will attempt to copy Allen's from his instructions.
