This photo was intended to be a 12sec exposure, ISO 100, f/8. I was looking at the back of the camera at the instant of the strike, watching the seconds click off. When the lightning strike occurred, the light was so intense, that I instinctively released the button on the remote hoping not to over expose the shot. Fortunately, the 6.5 sec. exposure worked out pretty well.
Photo taken on 6/19 at 11:38pm.
You can see where the lightning "bled down" over the edge of the roof line of the 7th floor, indicating that the strike infact did hit the building. Thought this was worth a post. Thanks, Boone.

Thanks for the look! It is funny how fast news gets around. I showed a couple of ladies this shot the morning after I took it. They went to McDonald's for lunch, and was telling some other people about the shot, and a girl that knows me that works for our local paper overheard the conversation.
That girl called me and ask if the paper could print it, so I emailed it the her, and it appeared on the front page the next day. It really created some local accolades for a few days. Thanks, Boone
Defiantly on to send to your local newspaper and TV station, Great shot Boone,
Geoff

Thanks GWR100! Luck shot. The flash of light was really bright. I could actually feel the "concussion" on the front of my entire body. Thanks again, Boone.

Thanks Dee! It was quite the shock!! I got about 6 good shots only minutes before this one hit. They were all around 12sec. exp. But the light created by this one, really lit up the sky.
I was most impressed by the effect that the "Heat" from the bolt sort of turned the moisture in the air near it into a steam. Pretty hot! Thanks, Boone
Don't forget it could have just as easily hit your building. I hope you weren't up on the roof!! ..... Coot

Nope...I'm not a dope!! LOL. I was safe and secure in my apartment/studio. Shot was through the glass. Thanks, Boone.
