What is the main difference between Corel’s Aftershot Pro2 versus Corel’s PaintShop Pro X6 Ultimate. I need to purchase one or the other for processing RAW images from my Nikon D7000 since I hear that Capture NX2 will no longer be supported by Nikon. Thnx for any input. -FiddleMaker

Keep in mind that PSP's RAW tools are not as powerful as aftershot pro.
If you are only doing basic work on the raw files, than this won't be an issue.

Aftershot is more for basic adjustments, white balance exposure sharpening etc.

paint shop pro does more advanced editing, allowing you to be more creative,

if you buy both, you can open your raw in aftershot, then after basic adjustments if you want to get more creative you can export directly to paint shop pro.

something I just learned this weekend is that if you have paint shop pro, you can get the upgrade for aftershots,rather than paying full price.. so if you think you'd like both.. buy paintshop pro first.

so you can get paint shop pro x6 aftershot pro2 and a topaz plugin for 108 that's quite a deal

I find Aftershot is more intuitive and easier to work with my RAW files then Paintshop Pro. I have both and I really like Paintshop Pro - but for my RAW files I use Aftershot. Go get the trail versions of both and work a RAW file in each one to see which one you like. I would agree with getting both if you could, if not well then it comes down to what you are needing? Do you just want to adjust your RAW files or do you want a full fledge processor for your photos (now remember AfterShot has adjustment layers - PaintShop has more than adjusmtent layers).

I have used use both AfterShot Pro V1 and PSP. They do different things. For raw processing, AfterShot Pro is the better program. Most of the time you will not need PSP unless layers or pixel editing are required.
TIP: Corel often sell these at deep discounts; go to their website, download the 30 day trials, get on their mailing list and watch for reductions sometimes as much as 50% off!
Even at regular price they are much less expensive than Adobe's Lightroom and Photoshop.
