Can't wait to see what the real specs are on the 7DMII. I hope it isn't touch screen!
Basil I think a great many users have been waiting on the release of this camera body and I think like you that the specs will be so important. I do not agree that touch screen would be a great addition, but if they keep their theme of the 7D Mark ii being a near pro, or a baby 1DX it may not. I do think that they may very well update the sensor i.e. nearer the 70D.
I think that Canon has been standing still on this update.
I also think that if Canon and Nikon do not move in the mirrorless category they will be left behind in the dust created by Sony, Fuji, & Panasonic
Any new word on the 5DM4 release?

I suspect you're right about the sensor. From the rumors I've read, if I was going to guess (and what is on my wish list) would be the following:
1. Improved sensor (As you suggested. A recent Canon patent may be a clue:
http://www.canonrumors.com/2014/06/patent-canon-5-layer-uv-ir-rgb-sensor/)
2. Dual Digic 5 processors (or something even newer/better/faster)
3. Increased auto-focus points/ improved AF system
4. Better high-ISO performance
5. 10 (or better)fps
6. Built-in GPS
7. Built-in wireless (I could live without this)
8. Articulating LCD Screen (Maybe improved size/IQ)
While I'm extremely happy with my 7D, it will be interesting to see what features the 7DMII actually has.
Don't want a stupid touch screen.. Hopefully this will be my next camera.

I don't need a touch screen but like to see some drastic improvements in the menu layout.
Jack,
I agree that would be a great addition also

Just in case you wern't looking the 7D body was reduced to $999, @ Adorama & B&H if you can't wait for the 7D Mark ii, or the rumored price of $2,100 will bust your camera budget
