I had planned to go to a favorite retention basin but we had heavy rains Friday night, so probably not the best idea. I wasn't planning on returning to the TAM gardens this soon, as I shot the heck out of it two weeks ago, but I figured it was my best option. Glad I went. Lots of new critters out there. I walked the cattle fence again and got some good shots on the steel cable again.

I love the lateral view of the skipper, and the pink-on-pink is unique. Your wheelbug is downright scary!
Another excellent macro set.
You're lighting is...its...man!
Stunning and a great variety of subjects.
beautiful!!! what is your diffuser made of,i want to make one
I can't decide which one I like best because, they're all quite nice, each with it's own merits. However, the Pink Moth does stand out a bit.

Thank you Douglass. Wheelbug is a bit unsettling.

Thanks Tom. Diffuser material is white paper towel. I shot a grey card for custom color white balance reference. I detailed the diffuser in the equipment setup thread. Last entry on page 5. If you need any additional information let me know...

Thanks Bill. Yes pinkie is unique. I had a hard time seeing it on the flower.
Very well done. I like them all. You have a great talent.

Another very nice set. Looks like the wire cable is a "critter hot spot" Those robber flies are outstanding. Also like that red wasp and the pink moth. Nice Camo on that one.
Fine shots! I certainly can agree with you on the great flower fly, the wing is perfect -- you can even clearly see the spurious vein (the floating vein just below the middle of the wing) and the bumped vein at the wing end that clearly identify the family Syrphidae.
If you get a chance, watch the paper wasps (red wasp) at their open paper comb. There is 1 dominant female, and the interactions between colony members are interesting as they come and go. The queen is not necessarily permanent, and if she disappears, the others will posture among themselves until a new one takes over. All can lay eggs, but only the dominant one usually does.
The wasp on the yarrow has exquisite detail on the cuticle! Most probably a parasite of grubs, but I cant get the family.
The leaf-footed bug is just fine! Shows the 4-joint proboscis and hind leaf leg. The low-side view emphasizes the shoulder tooth-ridge and the eye shows the facets above the pseudopupil. They dont bite, but do stink when molested.
? Can you replace the cable with a branch? Wonder if its the position or the material that draws them.
Wow, what a beautiful set! I love the skipper and the pink moth!
