Anyone using the NIK software plugin modules for Photoshop & Lightroom? How do you like the software? From my limited time use (couple hours) the Color editing module is impressive.

Great software. The sharpener pro is the best I have found and silver efex is also the tops.

Nik software is great however since Google purchased them they do not appear to be developing it further. Hope Google did not just purchase them for the technology.

I have the NIK package and am very happy with it but would think twice about buying it today since Google will not be updating it to keep up with the competition. ;)

Good morning. I assume you bought the Nik Collection that includes several filters. When Google bought Nik Software, it began offering the collection for $149 -- a bargain.

Nik Silver Efex 2 has become, I believe, the standard plug-in filter for developing black-and-white photographs. I use it and some of the other filters, like Color Efex Pro, Define, Sharpening for Output, and Viveza.

Color Efex Pro works a little wonder with most landscape photographs, especially the Tonal Contrast option, to introduce color contrast for making a photograph stand out.

I cannot say enough good about the Nik Software Collection. I recommend any photographer looking for a versatile set of filters to consider the Nik Collection from Google.

This review says more in praise of the Nik Collection:

How do we know that? Was there a public promise that it would never be updated?

I use NIK HDR just about as much as I do Photomatix, and NIK Silver Efex, in my opinion, is about the best B&W conversion package on the market. NIK Color Efex is pretty good, but I find I can do about as well with Photoshop CS6.

I've had the Nik Software Suite from Google for about a year, using the suite with Lightroom and Photoshop Elements 11. Nik HDR Pro only works with Lightroom, not PSE11. I find Define, Viveza, Color Efex, Silver Efex and the output Sharpener to be quite useful. Analog Efex does nothing for me. Silver Efex is outstanding!

Before Google bought Nik, it would have cost $500+ to assemble the entire suite. At Google's price of $150 the suite is an incredible bargain, even if Google never updates it; though continued development would be a plus.

There are, of course, other options, too.

Nik was very good and still is. When Google stepped in and bought it, that was their and our demise. They dropped the price and left the store! We still use it every day but updates and seminars are out! I have used Nik for over 10 years and have seen them grow and really improve. That growth is now done thanks to Google.
