New plan, in 2 1/2 hours the next showing of "America, Imagine the World Without Her" starts at the local theater. Wife and two youngest at Anime Expo in LA. Oldest is at Ft Bragg, so just me and the critters, they are all asleep and I can be home before it is dark and the celebration drives the critters nuts. I am going to the movie, pig out on popcorn and then come home to listen to the album.

Might I remind you that the "Duke" played a hero in the movies. In fact he was never a hero in real life.

In the 1930's, John Wayne was a B grade movie actor trying to eke out a living in Hollywood. When the war came, a lot of the Hollywood leading men joined the military to aid in the war effort. Actors like Jimmy Stewart, Gene Autry, Eddie Albert, Kirk Douglas and many others. Wayne saw this as his chance to advance in Hollywood and become a "star" since most of his competition was off fighting the war, so he pulled every string he could to keep out of the military. At least that's the story I heard. And since I never cared for him I can believe it. Now for all the Wayne fans to tell me I'm full of crap.

FYI
I love John Wayne movies but there is some truth to what you have stated here.
