Trust me when I say you are going to really going to enjoy it...
Hi Bender.
For 50 years I carried in my camera bag:
(1) Pentax mx 35mm film SLR.
(2) one 50mm lens
(3) one 28mm lens.
(4) one 20mm lens
(5) one 135 mm lens
(6) one Canon rangefinder W/40 mm lens
about a dozen filters and other Msc. things
I had more equipment than most of the guys
around that time.
As you can see I either got up close to my
subject, or I didn't get the picture.
All of my gear combined (was very high quality)
but didn't cost much over $1000.oo.
Most of the guys on Uhh have extra backup
cameras and a whole bunch of lenses.
If you can afford it, that's fine, but I really
doubt that you get any better photos than
the photographers that came before you.
Ok, go ahead and take my head off.
I can take it. ronny]

I only have 3 dslr lenses with this new lens. That should keep me busy in my retirement. Thanks.

Respectfully, technology is a dynamic thing. I began in 1972 with a manual Minolta SRT, 28mm 50mm 135 and a flash. For Alaska this was all I could wish for.
Oh I still shoot this gear.
I also have a bit of Canon digital gear and funny how it may sound my mindset is totally different when I shoot film versus sensor.

Congrats! May the tripod be with you!

I've had mine a couple of weeks, and shot some airplanes with it, and a few star and moon pictures, and it is a great lens. You'll love it! Congratulations! I'm still waiting to get some bird and animal shots, but they will come...
Ordered mine March 24, maybe I will get it soon
I'm considering ordering this lens but does anyone know if any particular vendor can deliver it faster than the other? B & H & Adorama both have it for $1,069. I prefer B & H as they don't charge NJ residents sales tax.
Bill
There has been some talk that some of the smaller less well known stores may have one or two in stock, but I talked to B&H the other day, and they said as soon as one came in, it went right out. Spoken for already... Best to pre order and get on the waiting list. I'd imagine any of the other major stores have the same situation.
BUT, just to say, I'm sure glad I waited! Seems like a really great lens, especially for the price!

Other than the 20mm and the Canon rangefinder, I had the exact same equipment! I miss that MX...
There is indeed hope on the horizon for the delivery of the Tamron 150-600 (Canon mount). I ordered mine March 15th and I am told by Adorama that it's on it's way and will deliver Monday. Since it appears that I will finally get the lens, I have addressed the issue of how to protect it by ordering the least expensive case I could find that looked like it would do the job...the Lowepro 13x32cm Lens Case ($41.95 & free freight at Adorama. If nothing else, it appears to be large enough to house the lens with tripod collar attached. I guess the message is that, if you have been waiting for your 150-600, wait a little longer as it appears there are some shipments taking place at last.
