A change of pace. My wifes sewing machine. I like the detail. I initially took the photo because my wife seldom uses the machine and always has a problem setting up the threads. My version describes where the threads go, if that's of any interest.

I always appreciate C&C. Thank you.

Whatever the reason you took the shot, I love the sharpness, DOF and exposure.

Thanks for your comment Selkii, that's really why I posted it. I could have skipped the sob story.

Thanks for your positive comment Rlaugh. Some days there's nothing to shoot, then all of a sudden a sewing machine shows up. :D

The composition and razor sharp focus on the shiny metal really make this image.

Nice sharp shot! The only critique: the thread missed the retaining clip at the top of the needle. It keeps the tensioning arm from pulling the needle forward. We expect a revised reference photo for your wife soon, otherwise you will be blamed for any skipped stitches or broken needles.

;-)

I thought I was the only one who took close ups of sewing machines! I think they may make an interesting topic for a photo contest, don't you?

I don't know about a photo contest; this was a one time deal for me. I shot this a few month ago and came across it the other day. That's when I decided it might be interesting to post it in the photo gallery. You're not a sewing machine repairman are you?
