Hello everyone. Years ago I started dabbling in photography and love it..........along came life and I was
distracted...so to speak.
Now I'm recently retired and received a fathers day
gift.......Nikon D3100. My first digital camera and loving
it. I have taken some good photos but have much to learn.......bring it on...that's why I'm here.

Hi Dave:
I believe it was either Socrates or Plato who said
" God made the cat to give man the pleasure of petting
the Tiger."

Hadn't heard that one before - thanks ;)
and my other favorite is:
"A cat is more intelligent than people believe, and can be taught any crime."

Welcome to the Hog. That's a good camera to start with, soon you'll be moving on up to other lenses, tripods, better bodies, etc. It's what's known as GAS around here. Gear Acquisition Syndrome. There's no known cure, but you will find a good support program here with at least 12 steps... Looking forward to your images...
Greetings foggymountain, and welcome to the UHH!
Welcome, we'll help spend your money for ya!
Welcome foggy mountain. The d3100 is a great camera. I had one for 3 years and took some great photos with it. The perfect camera to start with. There are so many knowledgeable people here to help you. Get shooting and have a blast.
Here are a couple photos I took with my d3100. Hope you like them. PhotoPhred
