Canon SX50 HS Question re: Custom Setting

Morning fellow Hoggers,

I know there are quite a few of you out there with this camera. I have been putting my Canon SX50 through its paces prior to our fast approaching trip to the Arctic.

Here's my question/problem (the answer may very well be buried somewhere in the almost 300 page manual, but I haven't found it!):
1. I set my C1 shooting mode to what I thought was what I meant to program (turned out NOT to be the case)
2. Discovered all my settings were fine EXCEPT for white balance. Somehow, I managed to program in some custom white balance setting that resulted in GREEN, GREEN, and EVEN MORE GREEN!
3. QUESTION: is there any way to fix just this one setting in my C1 WITHOUT having to clear out all my C1 settings and start all over again?

I have my shortcut button set to WB, but it is not practical to reset my WB every time I want to use what have have programmed into my C1 button. I would have to do this every time I wanted to use my C1 settings after either turning camera off and on again or switching between modes.

Many thanks,
Mike

You shouldn't have to. Just setup the camera EXACTLY how you want it and then press the menu button and set C1 again. Any Canon camera that has Custom modes are setup the same way.

Go to Menu>Save Settings>C1 and done.

You don't have to read or try to find information in a 300 page manual. I downloaded the PDF from Canon on your model of camera and found the information in 30 seconds. You can do key word searches or just find what you are looking for in the Table of Contents and click on that and it will take you to that section of the book. Now just browse through the 10 or so pages till you find the exact thing you were looking for. I always read the 300 page manual first, but never pick it up again because I know that the information can be found quick from the pdf.

If I understand what you are saying, I have to go through ALL the settings I want included in my C1, set them again, then save to C1 again.
I have tried to just set my dial to C1 and just reset the WB to AWB. No matter how many times I do this, C1 reverts to that custom WB setting I am trying to get rid of. If it is possible to go in and re-set just my WB in C1, I am missing something.

Looks as though you added to your response while I,was responding to you.
I actually have the manual saved as PDF, but never gave a thought to a keyword search - shows how frustrated I am!
Thank you again. I am going to try it.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU ! ! ! !
I sooooo appreciate your help.

You supplied the missing link. For some reason, I was missing the Menu/Save Settings part. Must have been the frustration of having green swans and green egrets and green lighthouses all over the place. In my defense, I did recognize immediately that it was a WB issue. I am new to DSLR and sometimes I just have a heck of a time navigating the menus. It's not that I don't know what needs fixing, it's just that I sometimes can't figure out how to get to where I need to be to fix it.
I can finally be "one with my Canon".

Thank you again,
Mike
