checkerspots and a vulture

The Checkerspot butterfly was rare on L.I. just a few years ago. Now, this time of year they are abundant in this meadow. The vulture was a first at this beach. What was fascinating was his lack of fear and how low he was flying. Captures were taken with a Sony NEX-6 with the kit lens. Of course, the longer lens was in the bag. Advice welcome since I'm still at the beginning of the learning curve.

Thanks Angela, I'll remember. Wasn't sure if that was what gave the "download" or not. Hopefully, the next ones will be a little better.

Nothing wrong with these IMO ... love the butterflies on the milkweed and the photos of the vulture, given how quickly I'm guessing he appeared, are just fine.

Keep on posting!!! :)

Thanks for the encouragement. Went back today and there were only a few of the butterflies. Did see the vulture soaring high.
