Visited Lewis Ginter Gardens in Richmond Virginia. This was my favorite image from the day. It's a large cone flower that had a bee pollinating it. When the bee left, the idea of the closer image popped in my head.

Wow, very nice. The stalk-like parts of the flower heads on Purple Coneflower look like they are lighted from inside, don't they?

That is quite an image--flowers within a flower--at least that is my impression. Very well done!

Yes, that is what is called a "composite" flower, with many tiny flowers within each flower head. Asters, sunflowers, cone flowers, and many others are composite flowers.
