Hi everyone. UHH offers a link to Portrait Pro software for a good price. Has anyone used these "portrait correction" software programs with any success?

If you are tech challenged as I am, it is easy to use and does a very nice job.

I have Portrait Professional 9 Studio Edition which I would rate as excellent. I believe that there is a new version available. Since I'm out of the portrait/wedding game, I hardly ever use it.

If you have a need, by all means, get it. It is user friendly and does all that it claims to do well.

I had posted a cropped "before and after" picture here: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/tpr?p=3184568&t=187191

I am not "tech challenged", but I am "post processing averse", but I think Portrait Pro does an excellent job so I tolerate it. :-)

Most software that are created as crutch are usually overdoing it. That the review here are good does not mean you have a use for it.
Save your money.

Thanks to all who replied. I can see where it might lend itself to over processing, but used judiciously it might help, and at under $50 in the offer it might be something to have. Many in my community are over 55 so a lot of the portraits might need some quiet retouching. I'll download the trial. Thanks again,
Dom

Please be judicious in your use of this software. I've had more than one person tell me that wrinkles, etc. are symbols of a life well spent and to leave them alone. A similar situation came up with one of my teenage great nieces that had extensive acne. I was told in no uncertain terms that it was okay to have acne. I had offered to remove it from somebody else's photos (might have been school pictures, don't remember).

Well said! I have Portrait Pro and used "gently" it is excellent. I shot a casual portrait of my still-lovely wife (she's 65, I'm 70) and the software just sort of took some of the edge off wrinkles, etc. I don't feel that this sort of "retouching" is dishonest; my ideal is that a viewer won't know that I've used the software.

Thanks to both comments. I little gentle retouching is OK. Some of the pictures they show in the demo have people getting a complete makeover, which in itself can be quite insulting.

I use it sparingly...and with nice results.

Excellent shot of a lovely subject. That's the sort of use I like. Unless we had a before/after comparison it'd be hard to detect.

I took this last week at work for a client..and that's how I use it..ever so slightly. Too much and its starts looking all glamour...kinda plastic.
