Unintended Consequences

The incumbent might have wanted to make a lasting Middle East peace his legacy but his political advisors obviously didn't know the Middle East psychology from their a$$holes.

You can use any of the Middle East nations that he has "helped to democratize" as an example but since Benghazi Libya is the greatest example of the unintended consequences that this administration created this is my argument --

Granted, Qadhafi was a despot and a tyrant but he would never have let an extremist terrorist group demonstrate let alone attack a foreign embassy during his watch.

His security forces would have known well in advance that there was going to be a terrorist attack on the American Embassy and Qadhafi would have crushed the attempt, captured the leaders, and "punished" them mercilessly.

The same could be said about Egypt and Iraq -- and can be expected in Syria if the leadership is defeated. Afghanistan has been a lost cause since the British occupation in the late 1800/early 1900s. Sudan -- FORGET ABOUT IT !!

I do not disagree that former and some current Middle East rulers are brutal and rule with an iron fist, but our American citizens and Western friends would be safer.

Some of you might ask -- "What should we do about it?" My answer is let the process run its course. In the furture -- maybe not in any of our futures, the culture might/MIGHT change.

Let the incumbent and future incumbents attempt to work within those cultures and not try to forcefully impose our's on those and possibly some of the Sub-Saharan African developing nations. FIND AND RECRUIT EXPERTS to provide advice and counsel before the incumbent puts more of our diplomats and military personnel in front of the guns and knives.

Absent that, don't pull another Vietnam on our people by encouraging them to go forth and do good AMERICAN things blindfolded with their hands tied.

There is no, and never will be, a tradition of Jeffersonian Democracy in the Middle East. Arabic nations can only be ruled by a strong and ruthless Despot like Hussain, Quadhafi or Assad.
