Hi all, I took a bit of a punt at a car boot and bought a d90 that the guy said was not working right, it seems to work ok auto focus and actually takes pics but the rear screen doesn't work so unable to review shots anyone had this happen before, I am normally a canon shooter, is ther something I am missing with regard to the controls on the camera any help appreciated
Thanks
Bill

Ol' Frank Loc: Orlando,

I know how to make the screen darker or lighter, but if you don't have any screen at all is beyond me. If you can see anything at all in the menu setting, go to the SETUP MENU (the wrench setting) and click on LCD brightness. Hope you can make it work, I love my D90 and use it every day.

"I took a bit of a punt at a car boot..." Not something we would hear in the U. S. :D

If the original owner said that it wasn't working right, it looks like he was correct. There is a Menu choice to review images after they are taken, and you can disable that. Maybe "Review" was turned off by mistake. Otherwise, the LCD might be dead, or the connection to it is bad.

Look on Page 163 of the manual. If you don't have the manual, you can download a PDF from Nikon.

Sounds broken to me. I hope you didn't pay too much for it. "I took a bit of a punt at a car boot..." I don't know if this means that the guy got rear ended and his camera was in the "boot" or "trunk" or not. But if that's the case, it sounds like the camera took a hit.

Could be a fun camera to use... sort of a throwback to film days where you never know quite what you got until you developed the film :)

You can plug the camera into a monitor (I think) and it will act as the display so you can at least reset everything to factory and then use it blind so to speak. I've never used a D90 but I suspect it will display the basic exposure and focusing date in the viewfinder so it would be usable.

I bet it's something like what we would call a yard sale. People bring their stuff to a central location and sell out of their cars. Just a guess.

Yes Jerry, Car boot = Car trunk, Car Boot Sale = Yard Sale
