PS CC 2014 Problems

I have found a few problems with the new release of Photoshop. If you use LKR and then send the photo to PSCC 2014 it will not open UNLESS PS CC is still installed
Also Adobe threw all the developers under the bus and changed the language that reads extensions and plug ins. For a short time many things will not work but Adobe did one thing right, you have access to both cc and cc 2014 until everyone catches up.

My PS updated but ACR did not. In fact the only thing that changed was the new Splash screen. My LR changed its name to LR5.5 but nothing else was updated.

My monthly call to Adobe tech support sorted it out, uninstall all 3 programs, sign out, sign in and reinstall. Now both PS and LR are working. Unfortunately, as per usual the Adobe update system has left a problem in its wake, I can not longer double click on a jpg to open it in anything. I will sort it out tomorrow.

By the way, Extensions Manager has also been updated a few days ago.

Things like this just slay me sometimes. With as many people who view Photoshop as the benchmark of graphic software, you would think they would not want to release an upgrade until it just, plain WORKS.

Not just Adobe though. Other manufacturers do the same thing. Must be a corporate mentality.

It seems like what we get in CC is beta versions and we are the beta testers. I'm gonna wait a few weeks before I upgrade and see if they figure something out. I have wasted about 18 hours on Adobe tech support this month already and they've wrecked my account settings, so I don't care to do something that will make me spend any more time with them.

After my problems of last month with Adobe updates, I opened a support account with Microsoft - cost nearly £100 for the year.

I have sent the invoice to Adobe - I do not expect a response.

Yesterday or the day before I saw some posts indicating some issues with the CC 2014 load. Seems there were problems with 3rd party filters working after the upgrade. I'm not a CC user, CS6 still does everything I can think of to throw at it. The fact that you feel like a Beta tester is an interesting perspective. I wonder if the Photoshop updates you get as a $9.99/mo user are the same updates that are provided to the "Professional" users that lease the entire Adobe suite of products.

Probably just a manifestation of my paranoia.

That's very unfortunate. As a current Photoshop user, I would like to not only be able to recommend this product to new users but be able to proceed with the assumption that I will someday upgrade to this software with the reasonable expectation that it will work for me. My confidence in both points above is waning.

It does work, they're just switching technologies. Panels will use HTML5 instead of Flash, as Flash is going the way of the dinosaur. HTML5 is much lighter weight and will surely perform better. If they didn't make this switch, people would be complaining about them not improving their product and keeping up with the best development practices.

Though that thought has crossed my mind, it would appear by the anguish on the Adobe forums that they do not discriminate. Pros and companies with complex systems that depend on all the graphics pieces working together are even madder than the $10 folks. Apparently the folks at Adobe create great software but poor delivery systems which, when tied to terrible communications strategies and hapless tech support keeps us always hoping a viable alternative will emerge.

Just as their marketing strategy has changed, so will the support services. Adobe will get better in time; they have put everything into these changes and so quickly, so hitches are inevitable.

Microsoft was the same with the Vista launch, then ME and now Windows 8. They will all learn lessons (eventually) and improve.

Me too. So far the CC upgrades have worked fine, but there seem to be problems with this.

I worked in this industry for years. It's called roll-out. They do roll-out testing according to a script given by develpoers. They cannot test every aspect of the changes, though they try. The problem is that management wants the product out by a certain date. That takes presidence over the testing schedule
