Baseball season is here. This is a photograph I did in 1973 maybe 1974. I introduced myself as a freelance SPORTS Photographer 1969-84. I can see many of you are interested photography.

Back then it was not as easy as it is today. This photo was made with my Nikon FTN and Nikkor 300mm f4.5 lens. And KODAK TRI-X Film ASA 400. Their was no film faster than that.

If you were to increase your speed, you would have to do it chemically. Diafine developer is what I used plus A - plus B process. Pushed = 1250 ASA.

A classic shot because at bat, Captain Carl, Yastrzemski #8 w/black glove on, and catching, another hero, Thurman Munson. NY Yankees. Died in plane crash.

Photography records time! CIAO, AP

At Bat Yaz, RED SOX. Catching Thurman, Munson NY Yankees.

one small thing. Once you shot your tri-x at 1250
it was EI 1250 (Exposure Index), not ASA 1250.
You can't change the ASA,, it never changes.
I'm just saying......
ronny
btw, I've shot my tri-x at most EI's known to man.

Ronny, I can see you are not understanding ASA, ISO settings. If Kodak ASA 400 speed film was exposed at 1250 ASA and developed for 400 ASA film speed it would be under developed and underexposed. Very, very hard to print. Maybe a 5 or 6 paper by Agfa might work.

ASA stands for American Standard Association - ISO stands for Industrial Standard Organization.

This is basic knowledge in the film world. Most people think that digital photography is more difficult in making a photo image.

It's the other way around. FILM is much more demanding in knowledge than making of a photo using a digital camera. Try focusing a manual camera lens.

Most pictures would be "OUT OF FOCUS" ! Using a digital camera camera, or iPhone, just aim it and press the button. Know knowledge known!

I'll challenge you in any photograph that you think is tough to expose in making a photo image. My images go back VIETNAM 1968.

I was a freelance SPORTS Photographer for fifteen years 1969-84. If you think basic photos are tough in the making, TRY ACTION SPORTS, and focusing a manual lans.

Have you viewed my Boston Bruin's Hockey photos ? Kodak B& W film ASA 400 pushed to ASA 1250 processed in Diafine, bath A&B. photographed 1972.

Show me your photos made back then.

RESPECTFULLY, AP
