GOOCHLAND COURTHOUSE, Va. Lined with picturesque shops and businesses amidst rolling green farmland, this town of 860 people lies at the conservative heart of outgoing House Majority Leader Eric Cantors rural congressional district. Conservative areas were a key part of Mr. Cantors downfall in Tuesdays Republican primary.
The Wall Street Journal visited Goochland County on Wednesday to understand why voters had turned against their long-time congressman. Heres what some voters had to say:
When you meet Eric, hes very personable, a very nice guy. But he went up there and wasnt paying attention to his constituents. Every time something came up, he just went with the flow. He didnt come back here and ask the people. James McCready, who works at Brothers N Arms gun store in Goochland Courthouse.
I dont think he was bad, but I think he was a little comfortable being a politician.
- Bill Upton, an architect who retired from state government.
The Republicans have lost their sense of conservative values and Eric is at the top of the list.
- Wilma House, an antique store-owner in Goochland Courthouse and an active member of the local tea party chapter.
The Republican Party has gone too far to the right. Ive been extremely frustrated with Mr. Cantors ability to negotiate but well have even less negotiation now.
- Mary Beth Wood, owner of Woods Sandy Hook store, which also functions a rural post office.
Goochland? hahahahaha oh well, VA's had their problems with the governor they had, wonder what ever happened to him?
They think Cantor went too far to the right and they elected a TP guy over him? Hmmm...but, what can you expect from Goochland? :D :D :D

These quotes offer more evidence of how ignorant the Virginia electorate truly is in places.

According the the New York Times, Cantor was one of the most disliked individuals in D.C, and that says a lot.
He got the boot because he forgot his district and the reason he was put in office ... simple as that.
A Rhino was not in the deal.
