Incredible story - thanks so much for the link, have shared it with the other folks with whom I work in animal rescue.

You are most welcome Donna. :-D
I got my dog at the shelter. When I go to town to buy dog food for my dog I buy a big bag and drop it off at the pound because they don't have the funds to keep them and donations really do help.

The folks that work at the shelter are very appreciative they need help it is underfunded.
I tell people to go to the shelter to get a pet you don't need to pay a lot of $$$$$ to a breeder to get a nice dog.
All of my dogs for the past 30 years have been rescues, either from them wandering onto my place and taking up residence or from my going to the pound. One of them was a retired racing Greyhound whom I had for 4 years before she passed ... nicest dog I think I've ever had.
And you're right about the pound facilities needing help - I try to pick up both dog and cat food periodically at the store. In the Spring they ask for baby food (meat) for the litters of kittens they end up with so I get them a lot of that as well.
I'd love to retire from writing software and work there for free but I'd end up bringing every single animal home and that wouldn't work out that well I suspect ... :)

Glad to hear this more people should help if nothing else go to city meetings and ask why they do not appropriate more money to the shelter.
These dam breeders bring what they can not sell to the pound and dump them off.
