Morning Star Loc: West coast, North of the 49th N.

While I have commented on other folks' photos, I thought it was about time to show something from myself.
I've spent some time with the camera on a tripod and the lens peeking out between curtains.
These birds are just ordinary starlings, but are fascinating to watch: Momma Starling would pick off bits and pieces from the suet block, and three baby-starlings were ready for that food!
My practice consisted of pressing the shutter button at exactly the right time to "catch" the babies with their beaks open.
Except for lightening the image a bit, cropping most of the cherry tree away, and putting the border around it, there has not been any post processing.

Nice picture of them. Sure glad I'm not mama bird! Those babies look pretty demanding.

Your photo made me smile. Your timing was perfect and your photo tells a wonderful story. I really like how you have framed mama with the babies A little more depth of field would have been nice to have mama in focus as well.

I usually don't go for bird feeder shots, because it almost seems like cheating, but you had to be quick to get this amazing capture, and what a moment you caught!

All the birds wonderfully sharp, perfectly exposed, and well framed all in the matter of a split second. Love it Morning Star .. this one belongs in the Birds and Blooms magazine. You should be getting paid for it ... hey ... maybe you are. :-)

Thank you, CM and Nightski. And no I'm not getting paid for it, that would make it "work"...

I thought she was teaching them to sing! Don't think the DOF is off (notice how sharp the black bracket is) as much as the mother bird, and the one at top, moved during the shot. Still, very nicely exposed with good color and contrast.

Oh my gosh ... you're in danger of sounding like Graham Smith!
