Do any of you use screen protectors and if so, what kind. I have D7100 and D5200 and was wondering if they work etc.

I have a plastic mobile phone one I cut down to fit my D5100 and a glass one that that was made to fit my D7100. They both work but the glass one is much better at keeping scratches off and easier to clean.

I cut down iPad screen protectors to fit. This works quite well, especially since I can custom size for several cameras. However, it does get smeared up from my nose prints and fingerprints. I think a custom sized glass one would definitely be easier to clean.

I use Hoodman Skins. They're more expensive, but no bubbles and they're repositionable.
I've had a custom glass protector on my Canon 5DII since I bought it several years ago. The glass just broke -- saved my screen.
Check B&H for their Vello brand glass screen protector for your D7100 and 5200. I use one on my D600 and like it. Easy to install and clean. ;)

I use a vello glass protector. Works as designed. For 20 bucks I figure it's cheap insurance against damage.
Thank all of you for the suggestions.

Since I have never been able to attach a screen protector without bubbles, no I don't.
One of my cameras has a fully articulated screen and when I put it away, I turn the screen to the inside. I do have a small cloth in the camera bag to wipe the screen.
The other camera has a tilting screen, and for that one, I keep an antistatic cloth in my camerabag, that I fold to 6 or 8 layers, then place it on the screen when the camera goes into the bag.
Also use it to wipe off the screen now and again.
(Yes, I have a separate bag for both cameras and their accessories).
I use screen protectors I had one crack but the LCD screen was intact cheap insurance
Absolutely! I use Invisible Shield screen protectors and they've always worked well.
Interesting, I figured the 7100 came with a protector like the 7000 did... So I was thinking "They're looking for a screen protector protector?"
I guess I do use one but both my D7000 came with them...

My d600 came with the Nikon plastic one but it gets scratched up, as did the one that came on my d80. Think I'll try the B&H glass version.

Hint for users of Giottos (and some other glass screen protectors):
The glue that holds the rim of the glass to the camera is very strong. The protector cannot be pried off without breaking the glass. However, the glue is heat sensitive; the entire assembly can be removed without damaging it or the camera by careful application of heat with a hair blow dryer. Do not use the maximum setting. Start at "Warm" and increase heat SLOWLY until the glue starts to soften. It also helps if you can fashion a ½" nozzle for the blow dryer; this can be done by using duct tape to close off the top and bottom ⅓ of the layering nozzle. Cover those areas with foil held in place with small pieces of tape before applying the duct tape strips; this will keep the air flow cleaner.
Once removed, clean the rim and the camera body with warm heat and a foft cloth (or Zeiss lens cleaner sheet). The protector may then be reapplied using a non-hardening silicone based glue.
