Today, I took this photo along the shore of a good fishing lake, but some fishermen were not so lucky. I've had a few of these unlucky fishing days in the past.
I was about 30 feet in distance and used my 600mm setting on my Tamron 150-600mm lens.
Canon 6D - Tamron 150-600mm - 1/640 - f/10 - ISO @ 800.

The worst day fishing I ever had was better the best day I ever had at work!

Amen!
Robert,
I thank you for looking at my photo.
Definatly tells a story.
Ive never had a bad day fishing but I know of someone who has.
He took his game boat out by himself East of Surfers Paradise...
well he was not exactly by himself; he had a very large supply
of Four XXXX. that's what Queenslanders call beer.
Anyway, he got himself well and truly refreshed on his supply of
Four XXXX, strapped himself into the game chair and deployed
the Penn. Having his refreshments close at hand proceeded to refresh himself substantially more right before the moment a Guiness book of records Mako shark took the squid the hero of this story had threaded on a size 27/0 hook.
The mako became so enraged at having said hook impaled through its Jaw, it lept out of the water into the back of the game boat, intent on exacting revenge on our intrepid angler.
The berserk fish bit clean through the aluminium post the game chair was mounted on, sending the hero to the floor of the boat with the inconsolable toothy and a couple of dozen now broken
bottles of Four XXXX that had been knocked out of the Esky.
Even though the floor of the boat was awash with beer, broken glass, blood and and the berserk mako, the seriously drunk and lacerated fisherman managed to scramble up the ladder to the fly bridge.
Our hero, now drunk on adrenalin as well as alcohol tore out
the Lee Enfield .303 from under the flybridge console and emptied the magazine into the engine and bottom of the boat.
According to the report of the Water Police the Mako lept out of the boat alive and well upon their arrival at the scene after they had responded to a radio call from the "Defendant" reporting his disabled and sinking boat.

Very interesting story, Shutter Bugger.
Thanks,
I came across the story in a fishing magazine way back in the 90s.

Still better, than being at work.
How many times have I done that. I suppose that is one reason why I like fishing in the surf.....fewer trees.

Shooting holes int the bottom of your boat...
Shooting holes in your boat engine...
Being arrested by the Water Police...
Being convicted of DUI and various
other related boating crimes...
Yep Micheal I think you're right. Great story for the grand children.
8-) 8-) 8-)
Fantastic shot, Reg! Good eye! I can totally see this happening, which is probably why I don't fish. I don't need more stress and embarrassment in my life!
Oh Regis, you brought back so many memories with your picture. I don't know how many lures I lost getting hooked by a sunken log in the river. One has to take anger management not to break the rod.
Done that, and stuck the hook in mine and others hats on the odd occasion??, Nice sot Regis

Thank you, Carlysue. I remember those good or bad days of fishing and sometimes catching everything but the fish. We have a lot of large lakes here making fishing a big sport in this area. But, I don't fish as much as I once did. Since I don't have a boat, I always fished from the lake shores which sometimes would lead to incidents as this photo shows.
Fishing still is a relaxing, enjoyable sport.
